Long ago when my own wife was just a dream in my heart, you could catch me saying, “I want to marry my best friend.” {Of course, I also then had all my friends starting pointing out that I couldn’t marry my best friend if I wouldn’t date girls that were in my friend zone, but that’s a different whale of a tale}. Vanessa & Adam from the time I met them reminded me a lot of my wife and me for many reasons, but at the heart of their relationship is the solid ground that is friendship. There is a comfort, an ease that unfolds around them. There are laughs, and inside jokes, dance moves, silly faces, tears, joy, & love that take place as you watch them; moments when you’re certain they’ve forgotten anyone else is there and yet simultaneously never exclusive. The family and friends that surrounded them on this day have roots in Vanessa & Adam’s life. No one was simply attending, each heart was there to celebrate & support and you could feel it. I had the unbelievable pleasure of becoming a part of a family from the moment I stepped into their day.
Vanessa & Adam, thank you for reminding me about the magic of marrying your best friend!
